System error – Live Clients record not found if date of birth is set to future date (user error).

Subject: System error – Clients record not found if date of birth set to future date (user error).

Issues:

If spocc user set x client’s date of birth to future date (4943) (which I did – mistakenly), SPOCC won’t retrieve client’s record on SPOCC live and test system, no matter it is a current client or inactive client which can result into payment serious issues.

Being working on Spocc’s system, resolving client’s and payment's record for last 3 years, it didn’t click in the first place what was the root cause of this problem

The client record was visible under service and reports tab but couldn’t retrieve it under clients tab.

Solution: After going through all the tabs of spocc checking all around, I and my colleagues couldn’t find out where the problem was laying.

I did ctrl+A auditing of this client and see what was wrong in the history of this client’s record. The only error I could see was the date of birth was set as future date (4943) which I corrected as 1943 and after that I was able to retrieve client’s record on client page.

OCC please test this on your side for future SPOCC clients, I think it was an error from testing team@OCC who couldn’t test the SPOCC with future date of birth (SPOCC user can make mistake), I am sure whosoever have tested SPOCC would have tested with the past and present date of birth but didn’t make an attempt (go extra mile) to test with future date of birth.

I hope this will be helpful to all spocc users who deal with SPOCC clients and Payments side.

Thanks

Beena.

Hi Beena,

Thanks for your post and making it so clear! When you search for clients in SPOCC without specifying a DoB "to" date, SPOCC uses a default of 2099 as it assumes you don't have any clients on that will be born that far in the future. You can override this by entering a DoB "to" date in the search criteria, for example if you had put a date of 01/01/5000 into your search SPOCC would have returned your client in the search results.

Hope that makes things a little clearer! Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Hi Luke.

Thanks for your reply.

The best solution would be that whenever SPOCC user try to fill DOB as future date it should display a message that 'dob is a future date , please enter correct dob'.

Regards,

Beena.
