This week we released SPOCC 7 to the three LAs that have volunteered to test the new version before its final release to the rest of the community next month. Along with the testing we do throughout the year, the whole team has spent the last three weeks testing, tweaking and documenting the new features, and we're looking forward to the feedback of the SPOCC 7 pioneers once their tests are completed early in the new year.
In the meantime, we are putting the finishing touches to outcomes support in SP-Bench, along with a few other features that people have been asking for since we released the tool in the Summer.
We have also been planning the key new features of SPOCC 8 and will be holding a day of workshops here at OCC later this week to discuss what SPOCC should deliver in terms of Individual Budget monitoring, Direct Payments, non-SP budgets, outcomes support, and so on. We currently have 15 SP officers from 10 LAs coming to Oxford to join in the discussions.
I'll make sure to make the minutes available in the forums as soon as possible so we can continue to develop the ideas here.
In January (21st) we will be having a free "what's new in SPOCC 7?" training day at the OCC office for those of you who are keen to keep up with the latest additions. But if you cannot make it, we'll be posting some online training videos to take you through the new features.
February brings us to the last of my news for today; we will be holding the SPOCC Lead Officers meetings on the 3rd in Manchester and the 4th in Oxford, where we'll present our ideas on how we will integrate the new ideas discussed in our workshops, into SPOCC, and have some more in depth discussions about where SPOCC will be going over the course of 2009.
That leaves me nothing more but to wish you well for December, and I look forward to seeing many of you in person over the next few months!
